Verloren Bekisting was asked by Lochness to make a scenography for an outdoor space of their new location at the Kortrijksesteenweg. We made an inventarisation of the materialshed of Lochness. We were interested in their leftover white paint, white melamine boards, PVC pipes/tubes, steel sheets, door hinges and aluminium windows. All this material was reused for the scenography. No new material was bought and the design faced the consequences of the material that was there. Taking away paint from the glass on the door reveals light from the interior space. The tool decides the dimension of the new openings. A broken clock was used as a sample to cut away half a circle to make room for the door handle. The PVC that was cut away for the lamps on the roof turned into an ashtray together with the clock. The old green skate rail of Lochness their residency at the Kunsthal became the backrest of a bench and the catalyst to paint all the other leftover steel in green as well. A big door handle and wall shelves to put your beer cans on. Through the act of painting the backdrop white, light is more present and makes the interventions graphically visible so the surfaces of the existing walls disappear.
A circle, a square and a triangle.
