Verloren Bekisting was asked again to build a stage for Broei’s Yartin the garden of the Duivelsteen castle for Gentse Feesten 2025. The castle is currently a complex construction site, undergoing total renovation works by noa architecten. This request led us to the rare condition of thinking about how to organise a party on a construction site. In the garden, the contractor installed a tower crane and massive scaffoldings to allow full access of the castle’s facade and roof. We added colored scaffolding nets to cover the scaffolds, which later would be needed by the contractor. We proposed a red and white striped covering of the two scaffolds against the castle’s facade. The nets fold over on the scaffold as a canopy, creating the roof for a stage on the right side and a roof for the bar on the left side. The tower crane becomes the central element, which was fully lit by placing lamps on each landing of the stair reaching up the tower crane.
