Verloren Bekisting was asked by Asfalt festival to propose an installation in a shipping container. Our installation plays with the movement of waste material. We normally move waste material from construction site containers on the street to our atelier. With this installation we moved the material back to a container again. Our atelier had turned a storeroom. We had improvised our own shelf by stacking wooden a-frames and random plates to store different lengths of steel, aluminium, pvc, wood and much more. For the installation at Asfalt we multiplied the system of this makeshift shelf into a functional one. Long and wide to store all sorts of materials with different lengths we brought from our atelier into the container. We extended the container by fully opening up its doors and made a functional canopy with found materials resting on the opened-up doors of the container. After Asfalt we moved the shelf and the material back to our atelier again. Full circle.
